Blog me a Fantasy Team

The NBA season has just started and my fantasy teams are rolling. I have 4 teams at YahooSports and 4 teams at NBA.com. Given the chance to pick my fantasy team, I will pick the best for each position. I will use the NBA.com format because I can use 10 players.

PG: Deron Williams - Chris Paul is a good choice here. But what separates Williams from Paul is durability.

SG: Kobe Bryant - This is one of the most loaded positions in the league. But among shooting guards, Kobe is the best.

G: Steve Nash - I love his high FT percentage and 3 pointers. With Nash, expect 10+ assists every night.

GF: Lebron James - Aside from Kidd, LeBron is the only triple double machine. Take not
that his stats are well over Kidd's capacity.

SF: Shawn Marion - He is the consumate performer. It is hard to discount his consistency an ability to fill up the stat sheet.

PF: Kevin Garnett - This is the easiest choice to make. Garnett is always in the top three when it comes to fantasy basketball.

F: Dirk Nowitzki - The reigning MVP deserves a spot in this list. Nowitzki can always assure great stats and consistent performance.

FC: Amare Stoudomire - What am I thinking leaving Yao Ming behind? Stoudomire is more versatile and easily boosts my fantasy team.

C: Marcus Camby - I need some blocks in the house. Nobody does swatting shots better than Camby.

UTL: Tim Duncan - The "best" player in the league needs to be in my team. Duncan also serves as an insurance once Camby start to break down.

Bench: Jason Kidd - The master stat maker will always be part of my team. He performs at a high level despite the age.

Bench: Michael Redd - He is lights out from beyond the arc. Redd can also score from here, there, and everywhere.

Bench: Dwayne Wade - It's too bad that Wade has to compete against Kobe. Maybe some other time D-Wade.

Bench: Carmelo Anthony - Anthony is an automatic pick in other fantasy teams. But subbing for LeBron is not bad at all.

Bench: Dwight Howard - He is still young and has a long careers ahead. If only he can cut his turnovers and shoot his FTs better, then he might be in the starting lineup.

Bench: Yao Ming - It is hard to discount Yao's abilities. But the players in the starting lineup are just more consistent.

Tough Omissions : Gilbert Arenas, Chris Paul, Tracy McGrady, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Rashard Lewis, Pau Gasol, and Chauncey Billups

This team is only for dreamers. Well that's why it's called fantasy..... SWEET!!!

Blog me some NFL Predictions

Football season is finally here. Trainings camps are being completed and stadiums are being furnished. This is indeed an exciting season and it promises to provide unparalleled excitement. Before the season starts, predictions will be made. As expected columnists and football enthusiasts have already published their bets. I am not an expert, but I do believe that these following predictions have good chances of happening. I predicted the Colts to win it all last year, this time I have another team in mind.

National Football Conference

Division Winners: Dallas, Chicago, New Orleans, and Seattle

Wildcard: Arizona and Philadelphia

Divisional Playoffs: Seattle over Philadelphia; Arizona over Dallas

Division Semi-Finals: New Orleans over Seattle; Arizona over Chicago

Division Finals: New Orleans over Arizona

American Football Conference

Division Winners: New England, Baltimore, Indianapolis, and San Diego

Wildcard: Denver and Cincinnati

Divisional Playoffs: Cincinnati over Baltimore; Indianapolis over Denver

Division Semi-Finals: New England over Indianapolis; San Diego over Cincinnati

Division Finals: New England over San Diego

Super Bowl

New England over New Orleans

This is a new season and I picked the "new" teams to win their respective conferences. But after the final whistle is blown, the Patriots will start its "new" dynasty.

Blog me a Health Buff

I was having a walk at SM Megamall when I bumped into a free blood pressure measuring promo. Because of some health concerns, I decided to take the check-up (it's free for crying out loud). One of the nurses asked me about my diet. I said I was a strict vegetarian. The nurse was about to believe my claim when the blood pressure reading came out. Wow! My BP was higher that what I have imagined. Instantly, I was obliged to transform into a healthy fellow. My joke of being a vegetarian was actually true. Its karma making a presence and the Penniless Fat Guy can now dream of being slim. Sweet!

Before: I used to eat rice like I am eating at Tokyo Tokyo (translation: rice unlimited)

After: I have to eat only one cup of rice and mostly oatmeal

Before: I can eat any meat that I want. It has been pork, beef, and chicken galore.

After: I have to remember that everyday is like Lent (something fishy is something allowed).

Before: Alcohol beverages and drinks are like water.

After: Healthy drinks, sugar-less beverages, and nonsense liquids are my thirst quenchers.

Blog me a Fat Guy

The post of Anitokid on random facts was interesting. So, I decided do it the Fat Guy style.

John Grisham is one of my idols. I have a collection of his books from "A Time to Kill" to "The Broker".

I learned this game from the old ladies in our neighborhood. Since then I have reached as far as Festival Mall in Alabang just to play Bingo.

Watching this cartoon is a total deviation from my supposed nerd personality. Beavis and Butthead are dumb and stupid, but I like them better than Regis and Kelly.

Since I was a kid, I was enamored by planet Mars. It is still my greatest dream to conquer this planet and become its first president.

Beatles songs are like food to me. Enough said!

Although my grandmother started the gumamela garden, I was the one who maintained and nurtured it. I guess the fat guy can be a horticulturist someday.

I am a huge (literally and figuratively) Spice Girls fan. I find the group sophisticated and Posh Spice is one of my eternal crush.

I am an avid listener of DZRH. It is weird, but I prefer the AM frequency to the FM radio.

Blog me a Song

Although the art of singing has eluded me, I still find time to strut some notes and sing classic songs. As always, it's fun to change the lyrics and do a makeover out of a great song. Just imagine Elvis Presley singing about blogs. The Broken Bow started it and Anitokid made it great. I guess the Fat Guy has to put his hand inside the cookie jar. This is sweet!

If I Can Blog

There must be blogs written better somewhere
Got to be linked with the bloggers in a blogsphere
If I can dream of a better land
Where all bloggers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why can't my dream come true
Oh why

There must be links and trains sometime
Strong bonds of friendship that will blow away
All the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a better post
Where hope keeps shining for blogger
Tell me why, oh why, oh why won't that blog appear

We're lost in a sphere
With too much train
We're trapped in a world
That's troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to blog
He can redeem his soul and fly

Deep in my heart there's a tremblin' question
Still I am sure that the answer, answer's gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle
And while I can blog, while I can post
While I can blog, while I can post
While I can blog, please let my blog
Come true......right now

This was based on Elvis Presley's song, If I Can Dream

Blog me a Poem

Once I saw a word and my brain started to clog
What is it this thing that many people call blog
Perhaps a fancy writeup or a journal for the soul
Maybe a personal thing or an eternal goal

At first I was reluctant to start on my own
I feel that I'm ready I might as well cast the stone
As the words turned into phrases and then into a statement
I can sense that there is indeed a feeling of contentment

My blog begins to shape as I start to reflect
All things I've done are coming; the wrong and the correct
This amazing thing called blogging gave me a peace of mind
Something I will never trade and definitely one of a kind

I can prolong this storytelling but I know this has to end
Why not start blogging and see for yourself my friend
I may never be a hero and save the world from its strife
But at least I made a blog even for once in my life
